"The front desk clerk was a little clueless. I had requested a nonsmoking room when I made my reservation, but did not orally confirm this upon check-in. When I got to my room it smelled like smoke and there were ashtrays on the credenza. Right away I walked back to the desk and asked him if I could have a nonsmoking room. He said something like, "What makes you think you are in a smoking room?" I told him, "Because there are ashtrays in it and it smells like smoke." Then he said something like, "Well that doesn't mean anything." And he went to check the computer to confirm that he had indeed given me a smoking room. I was surprised he would have to check the computer to confirm this. He did give me a nonsmoking room and the room I had was excellent. The pool was crystal clear and the continental breakfast was also excellent."
